Minissha Lamba fined Rs 4L for duty evasion

The customs department has imposed a penalty on actor Minissha Lamba for evasion of duty on the jewelry and dutiable goods she carried on her return from Cannes in May.

In an order dated December 8, customs joint commissioner R P Khandelwal has asked Lamba to pay Rs 3 lakh fine, Rs 95,000 as penalty and applicable duty to claim the jewellery worth Rs 31.32 lakh. Lamba has been asked to pay an additional penalty of Rs 10,000 on other goods like branded bags and shoes.

Her lawyer Sujay Kantawala said he would appeal before the commissioner. Continue reading →

Minissha, Arshad shot a hot scene together

Minissha Lamba and Arshad Warsi recently shot a very hot scene for their next film in Wai.

A unit source revealed, “The steamy love-making scene was an integral part of the plot. The day the scene was to be shot, barring a couple of technicians, director, Anand Kumar, had instructed most of his crew members to wait outside the set as he did not want his actors, Minissha and Arshad, to be ill at ease while the scene was being canned.” But it began raining and the other unit members, waiting outside, had no option but to seek shelter on the sets.

Rajat Barmecha to romance Minissha Lamba

In a recent development with Endemol’s first film production, Traffic, buzz is that Rajat Barmecha (of Udaan fame) will be seen romancing Minissha Lamba. Confirming this, a source close to the project said, “Rajat, who plays an aspiring reporter in the film, will be seen falling for a lady older than him.”

Minissha Lamba harassed by authorities at Dubai airport

Minissha Lamba seems to be having a horrid time at the airport these days. While earlier this year she was detained at Mumbai airport for carrying undisclosed jewellery worth Rs.50 lakhs, now the actress had a tough time with authorities at Dubai airport last week.

When Minissha arrived at the Dubai International Airport, she was asked for her lodging details. Since the actress wasn’t too sure about her hotel booking details, she made a call to someone who had come to receive her. This infuriated the officer who shouted at Minissha and asked her to sit quietly in one corner. The officer even threatened that if the actress didn’t do as he says, she would be deported. Minissha Lamba stranded in New York

Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba has been held captive by Hurricane Irene which struck the US East Coast on Sunday. She is in New York for an India-US cultural event and is stuck on the 22nd floor of a hotel. The actor is likely to remain there till the hurricane blows over and air services are restored.

Speaking on Sunday morning from Radisson Hotel in New York, the actress said: “It’s really scary out here. For 36 hours, the entire New York will have to stay indoors. A state of emergency has been declared.”

“Everyone is in their homes. As I look out of my hotel window, I see a deserted street down below. Can you imagine New York without traffic? It’s like a scene out of Armageddon.” Continue reading →
