Minissha Lamba forayed into filmdom with Shoojit Sircar’s YAHAAN. Now 5 films old, she harbors a wish of working with various filmmakers and actors. “The list is endless,” she giggles adding, “As an actor you want to grow and you’re never satisfied. Five years down the line, i want to see myself happy and successful. i want to evolve as an actor.”

Minissha wants to exhibit versatility on screen. “i don’t want to do the run-of-the-mill kind of films. i think every film should be different. i’d like to do a tragic period film. We need to give audiences a choice. Every film cannot be YAHAAN. Every performance cannot be YAHAAN. it was a once in a lifetime film. Every film can’t be that!” she enthuses. Minissha Lamba and mathematics don’t quite gel together. While in school, she ironically won the multiple-choice quiz in the Mathematics Olympiad and was gifted the bestseller “Rebecca”. And after all these years, she’s all set to play that very character!

“Call it fate or whatever. i somehow managed to win the quiz and today i am doing Ananth Mahadevan’s ‘Anamika’, which is a modern day adaptation of the book,” Bollywood Trade quoted her as saying.

Not many know that director Reema Kagti approached her mentor and director Farhan Akhtar for the role being essayed by Abhay Deol in HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT LTD. However, both HONEYMOON TRAVELS… and DON were going on floors simultaneously, so Farhan couldn’t play the part.

Incidentally, Abhay Deol and Minissha Lamba got on very well during the shoot of HONEYMOON TRAVELS… There were rumours that he had a crush on her, something the two laughingly dismiss. Though Abhay admits, “Minissha is such a lightweight that made it easier for me to do the tango song ( Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani…) with her in the film.”

The film is all set to release tomorrow.

Her minuscule role in CORPORATE and the subsequent debacle of ANTHONY KAUN HAI and ROCKY- The Rebel hasn’t dampened the spirits of Minissha Lamba. The lady has her hopes pinned on HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT LTD that releases on 23rd February 2007.

“I believe in putting my best foot forward and leave the rest to god. As actors we put in tremendous hard work and give our everything but ultimately the film’s fate is not in our control,” she says adding, “I personally feel I’ve evolved as an actor. If I were the same (in YAHAAN and HONEYMOON…) why would someone want to watch me!”

HONEYMOON…directed by Reema Kagti and produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment is about 6 couples on a package honeymoon tour to Goa. Only four films down in Bollywood, but there is no looking back for this Delhi babe. in an exclusive interview with indiaFM, Minissha talks about her Parsi role in Reema Kagti’s comic journey Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd and continues to talk on her upcoming films.

How did Honeymoon Travels… happen?
i got a call from Zoya Akhtar one day, and she told me that she had a film that she wanted me to listen to the script. When i went to her office, i saw Reema (Kagti). She introduced herself and told me about the film. i thought the concept was quite interesting, so i decided to take it up.

Tell us the story of Aspi and Zara.
in a nutshell, the story of Aspi and Zara is that they are a Parsi couple, and they have known each other for the longest time possible. They are childhood sweethearts who are married, and now they are on their honeymoon. What is the twist in their story, what exactly is their track all about, for that you will have to watch the film. Just recently one saw Sohail Khan giving a cry of agony in his characteristic style to invite Isha Koppikar for a romp in the bed in SALAAM E ISHQ. Now Abhay Deol and Minisha Lamba also do something similar as they play bed games in their soon to be released HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD.

Looking cho-chweet and cute as a newly wed couple who finally got into a wedlock after years of dating and togetherness, Abhay and Minissha enjoy each and every moment in their honeymoon rendezvous. And it is during one of those intimate moments in the film where they turn into a dog and a cat!

In the film, once behind closed doors and an inviting bed, Abhay pleads and groans a la a dog to catch the attention of his newly wed wife. Well, Minissha is not far behind too as she teases him while mooing like a cat and gives him all the reasons to be on the top of her….well literally! in ‘Honeymoon Travels’, Abhay Deol and Minissha Lamba play childhood friends who get married after knowing each other for sixteen years.

While working together in the film, Abhay and Minissha actually became close friends. The two shared jokes, had their dinners together and even trained together for the Latin American dance Tango.

The story goes that Abhay Deol went weak in the knees every time he faced the camera with co-star Minissha. Sources say that during the time they spent together, Abhay was strongly attracted towards Minissha. Abhay has himself admitted to a tabloid that he finds Minissha “really cute and adorable”.

After we disclosed the Shabana-Boman and Raima-Kay Kay kisses, we believe Abhay Deol and Minissha Lamba were meant to be the third couple in liplock! But they didn’t and Abhay didn’t have his way!
